Saffron
A truly magical ingredient in Persian culture and one of the world’s most costly spices, Iranian saffron is a necessity in traditional Persian cuisine. Known for its mesmerizing golden yellow color and rich flavor, saffron is not used sparingly in Nowruz feasts.
The material mix of this mini dress was inspired by the rich, yellow of saffron, and the flower from which the spice is derived from, Saffron Crocus. Just as one would use various juxtaposing ingredients to create a balanced and cohesive Nowruz dish, this paneled garment brings two unlikely materials together. Made of several panels, the satin flower pattern is a digitally printed painting attached to yellow knitted strips. Knitted on a single bed machine, the yellow panels are created with elastic and rayon yarn, and utilize the punch-card method.
