Hafez is one of the most beloved Persian poets of all-time. His books of literature are often a staple in Iranian homes, as well as on a Haft-Sin table.

Near and dear to the heart of many Iranians, Hafez books are often put in places of honor on the Haft-Sin. It is tradition to gather amongst friends and family, and read passages to one another. A calligraphy styled excerpt from the poem “Spring and all its Flowers”, is painted and printed on a pair of wide legged pants. The top is a reference to spring flowers in a garden and is knit woven, row by row, on a single bed machine using chenille, rayon, and cotton yarns. A closing piece to the collection, this ensemble is an ode to Hafez, my mother, and the importance of Spring in Persian culture.
